SUMMARY:Deadline to Sign Citizen Petition to Oppose the Pipeline
DESCRIPTION:Please go to http://www.petitionbuzz.com/petitions/citizens-petition-to-oppose to sign the petition. \nWe the undersigned citizens respectfully request that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) accept and act upon the following issues regarding the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) natural gas transport project. \nSummary of Petition — Issues we request be studied: \nThis pipeline route through Craig County has already been studied and denied as a utility corridor. \nMountain Valley Pipeline will: \n\nCause irreparable damage to our streams due to steep unstable slopes and sedimentation\n\n\nEndanger federally protected plant and animal species which inhabit Craig County\n\n\nDisrupt springs and wells on which every household depends\n\n\nScar the forest and view shed and threaten our rural culture.\n\n\nReduce land values and harm our economy\, especially tourism & agriculture.\n\n\nEndanger public safety and increase forest fire risk\n\n\nRisk causing Johns Creek flood control dams to fail and cause damage to our roads and bridges\n\n\nNot be needed if alternatives are studied.\n\n\nNeed to post a substantial bond to assure funds are available to cover damages and removal costs.\n\n  \nThese significant negative impacts cannot be avoided nor mitigated. If the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) does not exclude the Alternate 110 routes from further consideration\, the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) must provide full and complete analysis of these effects and alternatives.

SUMMARY:EQT Surveyor's Arraignment
DESCRIPTION:Two surveyors working for EQT on the Forest Service survey\, Josiah Gregor Kleinhens and Lawrence Brewer of Cincinnati\, Ohio were charged with trespass on May 26. They claim to be employees of ESI under orders from EQT but the truck was unmarked. \nSix warrants for trespass were issued. They were released after plants in their possession were confiscated and they were interviewed by National Forest law enforcement officer John Ralph Price. \nThey had left one rented vehicle hidden behind what they thought was an unoccupied cabin in the deepest part of Foxfire\, near the National Forest line and taken the second vehicle to an entry point on National Forest. In order to do so\, they had used private\, clearly marked as posted no trespassing land and roads. \nThey explained that they were looking for endangered species and had been told by EQT that they had permission to survey and to remove plants from National Forest.
