SUMMARY:State Water Control Board meeting - MVP
DESCRIPTION:The State Water Control Board plans to hold two meetings in December to consider the draft Section 401 water quality certification conditions for the proposed Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley pipelines. The conditions are proposed as additional safeguards to protect water quality during and after construction. DEQ will make its final recommendation on the conditions for the board’s consideration at these two meetings. \nAt each meeting\, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will present a summary of the public comments it received and will make its recommendations to the board on the proposed conditions. At each meeting\, the board may approve\, deny or amend the recommendations. \nThe meeting dates are: \nMountain Valley Pipeline:  December 6 & 7\, 2017 \nAtlantic Coast Pipeline:   December 11 & 12\, 2017 \n   Each meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. and is scheduled to last up to two days. \n·         On the first day of each meeting\, those persons who made oral or written comments may sign up to respond to the summary of public comments presented to the board by DEQ. \n·         The meeting is open to the public. \n·         Under the board’s policy\, only those people who provided comments during the July 3\, 2017 – August 22\, 2017 official public comment period may speak to the board.  \n·         The response document will be available on the DEQ website in advance of the December meetings. \n·         The official agenda containing more details will be posted on the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall\, as well as on DEQ’s webpage\, Water Protection for Pipelines.

SUMMARY:15th Annual Barn Dance and Preserve Craig Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Bring your dancing shoes and a pot-luck dish to share! This year’s dance is a dance for a good cause! There are local charities that you will want to know more about. From the very local Preserve Craig\, to the regional Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue\, to the national Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation. We will have multiple activities going on! \nStarting at 4 pm there will be horse rides for the kids and a very special guest band from Raleigh NC\, Christiane and the Strays. Christiane is a talented singer songwriter featured at the Floyd Country store and you will not want to miss her group! \nThe Pot-luck dinner starts at 5 pm\, and the square dance at 7 pm. All during this time you can view the amazing Pipeline Series created by local artists Marino Colmano and Freda Ascot. \nThe square dance features returning guests Giles Mountain String Band and friends. The famous caller and flatfooter\, Lou Mauiri will be calling our square dance. Instructions are always given and he will make it easy for you. As Lou says\, “ Just do what I say and keep doin’ it till I tell you to do something else!” \nWeather permitting\, there will be a bonfire and marshmallows to say goodbye to summer and hello to fall! I hope you will join us Saturday! Please let me know if you plan to camp here. We encourage that because Sunday\, there will be MOVIE NIGHT at the barn featuring Wish You Well\, a David Baldacci story filmed locally. Stay over or come back Sunday at 6 pm for the movie! \nDr. M.M. Lewter\nFor directions call 540-544-6971\nmargelewter@gmail.com
